Congratulations for purchasing your force plates.
The force plates are designed to give you a visual and audible indication of the forces you are generating throughout your golf swing. The Sensor Golf Force Plate is an Australian invention and at present, assembled in Australia from mostly local and a few minor overseas components. We supply the product without wasteful packaging that ends up in the yellow bin and landfill however securely wrapped for delivery.
We also provide instructions on the website rather than another written, printed pamphlet that may also end up in waste.
The force plates have been in development for approximately 8 years. The inventor, a keen single figure golfer invented the force plate system to help (self and others) understand what happens during the golf swing. The inventor regularly uses the force plates to check his own golf swing to improve and remain consistent.
Why is the force plate important?
During your golf swing, without measuring, it is almost impossible to determine what forces and where they are positioned.
Knowing and understanding where your body forces should be during each part of your golf swing is important to achieve your maximum potential as a golfer. Our aim is to create a video for each primary move for you to check your own swing.
For example, when we are at the top of our back swing, for maximum leverage and preparation for the weight shift forward, it is known that loading the heel of the back foot is ideal and the diagram below shows you.
Another example, when the club strikes the ball it is known that the ideal position of your body weight at this point in time is on the ball of the lead foot to maximise the energy transfer to the ball (measured by smash factor).
How does it work?
We detect the force generated under the toe and heel of each foot independently with 4 sensors (1 sensor left and 1 right on each heel and each ball of the foot). If you are forward or back, left or right the force will be detected. These forces are relayed to a circuit board and program which converts the signal and displays light and sound. Force is shown in 3 colours, low force (yellow) medium force (green) and high force (red + audible tone). On each Force Plate there is a display panel which shows two lights, one forward and back. The display panel also has a symbol for power on/off and charging port for a mini USB charge plug in cable.
Each product is hand crafted in Australia and we currently can turn your order around in 7 days from receipt of order and payment to shipment. Shipment is by Express Australia Post and generally takes 1 to 2 days from despatch.
The force plate is designed to show you the relative position of your weight or foot force throughout every stage of your golf swing regardless of whether you are putting, chipping pitching or using your short or long golf irons or Woods.
SUPRISINGLY, we dont all stand in perfect balance and the first time our Golf Pro stood on the force plates it showed a natural bias toward his left foot, possibly years of training the body to load the right?
According to physiotherapists, it is not uncommon that after many years of golf there is a bias to the left side if you are a right handed golfer or vice versa.
Whilst standing on your force plates, try standing evenly on both feet with your eyes closed. When you think you are evenly balanced, open your eyes and glance down without moving your weight. You may be surprised that your weight is positioned to one side or the other.
Light and Sound Indicators
When the force plate detects a force it will light up with either yellow, green or red. The light is yellow, medium is green and heavier is red. When the red light is on so is the sound to indicate maximum. This typically occurs when you strike the ball or load one side in the back swing for example.
If you dont get red or green, dont worry, it is all relative and and is designed as a relative indicator of weight shifting.
When the forward light is on it indicates pressure is being applied to the ball of the foot and when the bottom light is on it indicates weight is being applied to the heel area. Light progresses through the 3 colours as the weight increases as follows:
1. No light - No load or weight detected
2. A yellow light means a small weight detected
3. A green light means medium-weight detected
4. A red light means maximum load or wait detected.
A number of diagrams follow to show you some of the possible combinations that may occur during your golf swing training.
